A Happy School is A HAPPENING School- Linky Party!!!

Jul 23, 2013

I am so excited to be hosting my FIRST linky party! Come join the fun!!
I have been a member of our school’s climate committee for over 10 years, and we have done some pretty neat things to raise staff and student morale. I also work with a pretty creative set of coaches who have come up with some cool stuff as well. As folks are getting in the back-to-school mode, I thought it would be awesome to share some of the creative things people do to keep the energy flowing.  After all…

A happy school is a happening school!!

My fondest activity is our annual Thanksgiving potluck.  It has evolved over the years, but is always a great time of camaraderie and thanks, just when we need it. We hold ours on a half-day where the kids leave just after lunch.  Like a traditional potluck, folks bring all kinds of delectable treats.  Our principal provides ham and turkey. I cooked one turkey and another teacher cooked the other the night before. When our staff was bigger, we would make 4 turkeys and 2 hams!  It is one of the highlights of our year!
Also around the holidays, the “Turkey Bandit”  and “Elves” show up leaving treats for classes.  Both work in a similar fashion.  A bad of treats is delivered to a classroom.  The receiving class hangs up a sign, and passes the cheer along to two other classes.  It continues until all of the classes have been given treats. Here are some freebies of posters that are similar to the ones we use.  All the kids (and staff) get really excited to get a visit from the Turkey Bandit, or “Get Elfed.”  I made some new Turkey Bandit signs to share.  ðŸ™‚
