Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday – Freebie!

Jan 4, 2014

I’ve gotta admit… I really miss my kiddos.  I really do have the sweetest class. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had an amazing and relaxing break. I’m so off of my schedule, so next week is going to be a little brutal, but seeing those toothless grins is always a great way to start off the new year.

One of my favorite back from break activities is to read the story Alexander Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday. Poor Alexander had such a hard time saving money!  It is a quick read and a story that most of my kiddos can relate to. Since we will make academic goals in a few weeks, I like to take a different approach to resolutions.  I spark great money discussions with this story. I teach in a high poverty area, and I feel so good when I can plant a seed for something that they might remember many years to come.

I made a little freebie mini-unit to go with it:

I hope everyone has a great start to the new year! In case you need the book, here is a link. (#aff)
It is such a fun lesson.  I hope you enjoy it and have a fabulous new year!!
